A great product.
I bought the little brother model to this years ago, used it countless times to trim Laurel tree, Juniper and Holly branches, not to mention the dreaded blackberries. Pretty much anything out of reach with a diameter of 1.5 inches or less is mine for the clipping. Well after a LONG time, the blade got tired, the spring got tired...it wore out but I sure got my money's worth.
NOW -- I buy this deluxe model. It arrives. I immediately go out back and EASILY trim Maple tree branches that were 14 - 16 feet up that were overhanging my fiber optic line (a concern) ...without a ladder. VOILA! done in 5 minutes!

Other comments: By the way, the branch saw attachment they offer is gravy. The star of the show for me is the pruner which you can rotate and lock to a 90 degree angle if you want: it's mega sharp. It came shipped to my porch in a probably 10 foot long X 8inch X 8 inch cardboard box filled with that brown kraft paper shipping paper.

I expect a good tool when I buy it. Before buying I do as much research as practical. At my age I can't waste too much time. I have places to go and yard to do :)! Most of the items I buy on Amazon come up to my expectation. But rarely does one far exceed that expectation. This is one of those rare times my expectation is far exceeded. This thing cuts like cutting butter. I cannot believe how smooth and easy it cuts even up to the largest limbs recommended. Follow the instructions! After using ours for 8 years and hundreds of small limbs pruned one of the blades broke off...The only reason it broke was my wife said the cutter got stuck and she tried twisting it to remove and then the blade broke..She new better but was a little tired and getting frustrated, so it happened. Pretty good for 8 years and the hundreds of limbs pruned though. I purchased some parts and repaired it for much less than sending it in to Fiskars.. We also bought another new one just because we use it so much and you never know if Fiskars might quit making this model...I keep the head clean, the cutters and chain lubed, along with using teflon spray on the straps to keep them sliding with ease...
I haven't used the saw mechanism...
Not sure about all the complaints about head breakage other than maybe faulty plastic, or possible user error...
All I know is that for us it has paid for itself many times over...It's also much safer to use than trying to stand on ladders while using loppers. Plus saws just don't work well on small branches under 1 inch.
As others have mentioned the type of tree definitely determines the thickness of branch you can cut and the ease of use in doing so..We pretty set the limit at 1 inch or under branches...
We also use the 62' version as they both have their uses...
