I initially saw a recommendation for this sharpener on America’s Test Kitchen and I thought I’d try it out. I’ve tried sharpening kitchen knives with electric sharpeners and with stones and I just never ‘got’ it. I eventually just sent them out for sharpening.

I find thumb placement and a light touch is the trick. I have an old pocket knife my son gave me and that is finally sharp. Not razor sharp. I only used 6 or 7 passes. But now it slices through boxes and rope with ease.
I have a Wusthof knife that was beginning to dull and so I used this carefully (light strokes). It handles tomato’s like butter.
