Reviews from Real Users

I own a lot of textbooks in the field of physical therapy, nursing, and medicine. Fitzpatrick's color atlas is truly a gem to have. The textbook is portable in size, has good binding and is made with good quality, and has excellent colored pictures and word descriptions. I find myself reading it often for leisure or when I have a difficult skin condition that requires increased differential diagnosis. Google is often used as a replacement by providers, but I do not think it can ever replace a textbook written by dermatologists. There is a lot of misinformation on the web as it relates to the pictures and the diagnosis. Buy this book and you won't regret it.

This book is awesome! I am a FNP student who struggles with identifying and describing skin conditions and rashes. This book is very helpful in helping to identify and describe rashes, as well as typical treatments. I’d highly recommend it for anyone in the medical field needing help with skin/rashes!

I used this book for an international medical mission trip and it was a fantastic reference for all providers to include the 19 nursing students that went on the trip. The pictures were the best part and it is true that one picture in this book is worth more than a thousand words. I'm going to continue to use this in my clinical practice back in the US.

I have a few of derma books in my shelf but this one's the best because it is complete, organized and very detailed. I commend the authors of the book for a job well done.

I must admit that as an over optimistic resident going into my first year of residency, I read almost all of the derm forums to get a list of the best dermatology books to begin with and I was lost lost lost lost and overburdened with a list of so many resources! Bolognia, Andrew's, Fitzpatrick, Rook's and even Uptodate were some of the resources I was bombarded with. A minority mentioned that their program recommended Habif as a first reading before moving on to Bolognia but I never gave that possibility a second thought because it was as I said a minority of people who suggested it. Then I heard this recommendation again by one of my dermatology tutors whom I've come across online and I wasn't so enthusiastic but I thought what would I lose, let me give it a try! and OMG once I started reading it, I found that it was written as though Habif was holding my hands and getting me through the derm diseases in a very logical, and elaborate way. Everything started making sense and I found myself thinking back to most of the patients I saw during my first few months of residency and connecting the dots with regards to some treatment decisions. The treatment sections are elaborate and GOLD. I have to say though that I had very minimal exposure to derm as a med student. This book is a must read in the first couple of weeks/ months of residency. Once I get done with it, I am moving to Bolognia.

Excellent clinical dermatology atlas with great photographs , treatment, and wonderful organization by regions. I also love the disorders index on the very first page. I found this most useful to quickly find a disease. I love this book. I also have Bolognia that I found bulky and the print is much too small. As a result I rarely use it
UNFORTUNATELY, there is no mention of " migratory necrolytic erythema " that is seen with glucagonoma. I also have Fitzpatrick's atlas of clinical dermatology and and that disease is well illustrated in it. I suggest you add it to your next edition.
My wife is a retired dermatologist and I a retired plastic surgeon. We practiced together for 40 years and she always called me to see the interesting cases. As a result I learned a lot of dermatology and still kept my interest in dermatology and Internal medicine .
I highly recommend this textbook that I find most useful and enjoyable. It is a MUST have !

Dr. Dinulos took the helm in editing this classic clinical dermatology textbook, previously edited by the late Dr. Habif, and made it better than ever. I have used all the major dermatology textbooks (Bolognia's, Rook's, and Andrew's) and have found Habif's Clinical dermatology to be the most clinically relevant. A lot of clinical pearls and just enough information on the many dermatologic conditions to give you a good understanding of the disease, without the extraneous information that is better reserved for more detailed reference textbooks. I highly recommend this textbook.

This was the first module in my clinical medicine class for PA school. This book was an easy read, had great pictures, and provided good information. I also worked in a cosmetic derm office as a MA for gaining hours for PA school. We didn't do a lot of regular derm and if I had this book as a reference when we got the rare real derm patient, it would have been amazing.

Best dermatology book. Pictures very helpful. Beginning with differential dx based on body area fantastic. Exactly right amount of information for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Ginger L.

I am a FNP student and many of my preceptors use the pictures in this book to help them with skin differential diagnosis. I too have literally held the pictures up to a case and narrowed my differentials down. Derm diagnoses can be tough but this book makes it a lot easier. This is one book I won't sell back - I will be using this long after I graduate. Only regret is I have the full size book and wish I had the smaller paperback (my preceptor had) for ease of use.

Love all the pictures and how all of the disease processes are listed in a consult form versus an in-depth explanation. Overall a fantastic quick reference book!

This book explains the pictured skin findings better than the other pediatric skin disorder books. Adequate number of pictures are supplied to clarify the skin disease in question. My favorite among the half-dozen or so of the pediatric dermatology books I own...

Highly recommend this book to anyone working in primary care or internal medicine! I am so glad Dr. Fitzpatrick took the time to write a derm book based on morphology. Looking for information on this book is a breeze and it saved me a lot of time when I need to look things up in the clinic. It is by far one of my favorite derm books!
