How To Choose The Best Caribbean Cookbook

I am from Jamaica and this is one of the best cookbooks ever it has vegan recipes and regular Caribbean Jamaican recipes I've been following him on Instagram and making the recipes before I got the book now I'm about to try almost everything in the book and it's so details so you will know exactly what to do and when to do it

As a person who grew up in "foreign" to Jamaica born parents I always felt like I should know how to cook jamaican dishes but never got the opportunity to learn.

I knew how things should taste but didnt k ow how to make it happen. This book is a Godsend as its colorful and really simple to follow. I want to make so many of these recipes. We had the curry prawns which I had my own recipe but this one was 10x better.

Thank you guys this thanksgiving and christmas is gonna be so good with the black cake and sorrel I'm gonna make!

Daughter purchased this to cook family recipes. 99% of our West Indian family members are on the East Coast from Jamaica, Nova Scotia and Great Britain. In California Jamaican food is hard to come by. This book has been very helpful.

I have ordered Caribbean cookbooks and never impressed with the recipes that usually seem incomplete, didn’t taste good, or added unusual things I’ve never seen my Caribbean family and friends use or omitted an important step. This book is the bomb. It has helped me perfect my conch and make a pot of falling off the bone stew chicken.

Everything I hoped it would be. 2 recipes down, pumpkin soup and pigeon peas and rice which were delicious. My mom and I plan to make a good majority of the recipes in the book. She said she can get rid of her other complicated cookbooks now because this one was easy to follow and provided you a picture so you can gauge your end result on how it should look! Thank you!!

I really enjoyed this cookbook, which features recipes from my childhood home (St. Thomas, USVI). I found the recipes to be authentic and easy to follow.

i prepared the curry chicken for sunday dinner and my family loved it even the ones that i thought i would get some resistance from because i used coconut milk and the spices. Recipe was easy to follow. Will be cooking more items out my cookbook. P.S. to get me into the mood of cooking I played old school Reggae music made the experience even better.

This book has a Jamaican rice and peas recipe I followed and it turned out perfectly. There are other very tasty recipes too but it is the first time I got a rice and peas recipe and it turned out right.

I waited patiently after pre-ordering this #naturalflavabook and I can safely say I am not disappointed. The recipes are varied and packed full of ways to bring out the autherntic Caribbean tastes from the conventional recipes but transferred successfully onto these new vegan dishes. I tried my hand at the spicy fried 'chicken' and it came out great, the seasoning was nice and right, see pic. The lovely thing also is at the back of the book, you see the full listing of ingredients and the index which is very helpful, so you can take your time and read through and gain knowledge of unfamiliar ingredients (such as banana blossom). Looking forward to cooking my way through the book. Money well spent!

Awesome book. I wanted something special to add a bit of zing and zang to my normal everyday Caribbean plant based munchies -not just for home but meals that can be prepared for work lunches as well. While plant based options are improving in the shops they still have a long way to go, so these gentlemen have come to my rescue.While some of the recipes are completely new to me Some of the recipes brought back childhood memories of aromas and taste of whatever delicious creation my Mumzy would put together -pure wizardry! Well done gentlemen and all who inspired you to bring this magical book into being.

I was born in Guyana and grew up in Antigua. I'm a Caribbean girl through and through. This cookbook is PHENOMENAL! It truly captures authentic Caribbean dishes from all throughout the islands, with informative back stories and beautiful photos. This book has been a GEM for me now as a Vegan who wants to stay true to my Caribbean heritage through cuisine. Can't recommend this book enough!

As a rule I do not write reviews but I had to come say my piece....there were some negative comments from other reviewers and they are just plain wrong! This book is a gem! I lived in Brooklyn for many years (which has a huge West Indian community). The flavors in these recipes are so authentic and bring me back to that amazing time in my life. I've never tasted vegan cuisine like what the Ital Rasta chefs make and I've missed it. This book brought those flavors into my house! I'm recommending it to everyone I know who is trying to eat a more plant based diet! Start cooking like this and you won't miss meat or dairy for a second!! So grateful to Taymer for so richly representing a cuisine that many people have never gotten to even try! It's so authentic and amazing!! Buy it now!!

I have never written a book review before, but I HAD to for this amazing cookbook!!! The author stayed as true as possible to the recipes that I have been eating my entire life. My family is Bajan and seventh day Adventist and I am very familiar with vegetarian cooking. This is the only cookbook I have found after years of searching that recreates classic Bajan recipes like stew, pudding and souse, and macaroni pie. She even included so many desserts that I can never find exact recipes for like conkies, sweet bread, and pone! The main thing I love is that she uses authentic ingredients. There is no substitute for breadfruit, sweet potato, or Bajan seasoning. You have to use these ingredients to get the authentic caribbean flavor. This book offers a vegan version of caribbean classics, not an Americanized vegan version. Taymer keep up the good work. I LOVE your cookbook and hope to see more from you.
